AZMIKEY

AZ Mikey is an Arizona-born artist whose identity is deeply connected to the state he represents. Born in Florence, raised across several Arizona cities, and now based in Phoenix, he brings together the Mexican heritage of his father and the African American heritage of his mother. Those cultural roots help explain the range within his music and the different perspectives behind it. He began creating around 2020 as a hobby and an outlet during the COVID-19 pandemic, but what helped him through a difficult period soon developed into a serious passion and a desire to share his music with the public.

Working primarily in R&B and hip-hop, AZ Mikey refuses to let genre determine the limits of his creativity. He has explored rap, country, and alternative music and is now developing a more spiritual and uplifting direction through Christian music. His influences include 2Pac, Bob Marley, and Michael Jackson—artists who transformed music while maintaining identities that were immediately recognizable. Their example taught him to remain himself, take creative chances, and search for something listeners have not heard before. His most personal records draw directly from his life and allow him to pour his heart into the music, while others are created from joy and designed to make people dance or simply enjoy the moment.

Within Delta Squad, AZ Mikey may consider himself the roster’s outlier, but he has found a group that treats his differences as strengths. Surrounded by artists he respects, he receives the encouragement to keep learning, branch into unfamiliar styles, and discover abilities within himself without being confined to one lane. He is not interested in manufacturing a defining accomplishment before it happens; he remains focused on improving and testing what he is capable of creating. At the center of that journey is an ambition tied directly to home: representing Phoenix and helping place Arizona firmly on the musical map.
